Teresa Mercado

The AAUW Milwaukee Board chose Teresa Mercado as the 2025 Woman of Merit. With a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Guadalajara, Teresa immigrated to America and joined the Board of Mexican Fiesta in 1994, eventually becoming Executive Director. Under her leadership, the scholarship program has provided over two million dollars, and she organized a Drive Thru Fiesta in 2020 to support it during the pandemic. Additionally, Teresa played a key role in establishing a Mexican consulate in Milwaukee, aiding around 300,000 Mexican people in Wisconsin. We honored her at our March 8th International Women's Day celebration and presented her with the 2025 Woman of Merit award.
